What if you are able to control a light in your bedroom, fan or AC while working in the kitchen or your office room using a remote control or your smartphone? The idea seems impressive as we all strive to do multiple things at a time. This is what exactly a Smart Module from Fibaro does. Fibaro Smart Module helps you control the existing electrical installations like a lamp, fan, etc., using a button as you integrate them to the Z-wave network. A Z-wave transmitter can also be used to activate the load.
The device connected to the smart module through the Z-wave network can still be controlled using the wall switch. The smart module in a wall box is placed just behind the wall switch. The wall switch is now connected to the smart module and it acts as an input device for the latter. When the switch is turned on, it sends a control signal to the FIBARO insert which in turn controls the load. FIBARO smart module is a micromodule that replaces the traditional relay switch devices.
The connected device can be controlled by the button on the micromodule or by the existing traditional switch. Any type of switch-momentary, toggle, etc.- can be used. The device can operate both in AC and DC voltages.
The device is very compact so that it fits itself in the housing of other devices. The recommended wall box size is 65 mm in depth. But wall boxes with 45 mm depth are allowed if the space behind the switch is lesser. This space allowance depends on the size of the traditional switch, wall box dimensions and the quantity of additional cabling in the wall box.
The device is very small and round-shaped to make it aesthetically appealing and to meet regulatory standards. A neutral wire is required to operate the module. The device can replace a remote control to operate the connected device. Fibaro Smart Module can be used both back and forth.
