The A70E-2 is a ZP7 series, addressable interface for conventional fire detectors. It is fully loop powered and enables existing or new conventional fire detection zones to be interfaced to an addressable fire alarm system, allowing all areas of a site to be controlled by a Ziton addressable fire panel. A single output is additionally available to switch external 24VDC to output contacts in case of alarm.
Via the A70E-2 each conventional zone is assigned a unique loop address. The zones are monitored for alarm and fault conditions and the status reported to the fire panel every 2 seconds.
Up to 15 Ziton Z600 series conventional devices can be connected to the interface, taking a single address on the loop. The Ziton protocol supports up to 127 addresses per loop.
Multiple Application Support
Drawing its power directly from the fire detection loop and supporting low current consumption, the A70E-2 has additional system applications ranging from an interface to equipment for hazardous areas, the operation of magnetic door retainers (via an interposing relay) and even an interface for linear beam detectors.
Housed in a low profile housing, the A70E-2 is designed to clip directly onto a standard DIN35 rail fixing, or be installed in an optional housing (SMB-DIN1 - one unit capacity, or a SMB-DIN2 - two unit capacity). In systems where numerous interfaces are installed or current requirement is excessive, the A70E-2 can be powered from an external. EN54-4 approved power supply.
Detector Head-out Removal Monitoring
The A70E-2 monitors its conventional zone wiring for open and short circuit faults via end-of-line resistors supplied with the unit. When Z600 detectors are installed with Z6-BS5 bases, the interface maintains complete operation of all zone devices even when a detector is removed from its base.
For maintenance purposes, clear visual indications are shown on the front of the A70E-2 for alarm (red LED) and fault (amber LED).
