This peripheral device is a remote battery temperature monitor which should be fitted and used in Rack-Mount and Extended panel enclosures or where batteries are remotely located from the basecard in a separate enclosure.
For Small, Medium, Large & Deep enclosures where batteries are located close to the basecard, the PCB-mounted temperature sensor is suitable.
